Photofest Carnival 2006 ‘Capture The Essence of Malaysia’

9.00 am to 5.00 pm

Apart from the seminar, workshop and photo exhibitions, this carnival will also feature a two-day fiesta for families. Events such as children’s photo competition, photography demonstration, ‘puzzle contest’, cultural and band performances, ‘Foto X-Games’, sales of photography equipment and many others will ensure that the carnival is a fun place for the family.

Kids’ Photography Contest
There will be two age group for the contest, 10-12 years old and 13-16 years old. The main objective for the contest is to encourage children towards photography, to expose them to tourism and travel photography and to explore their creativity on the subject captured. Participants are required to present on the photos that had been captured.

Giant Photo Puzzle
Open to all age group.Team of 5 must complete giant sized photo puzzle in 30 minutes.
Each piece of puzzle comprised of questions related to travel and tourism and travel photography in Malaysia. Cash prizes and hampers will be awarded to each winning teams.

Photo X-Games
Open to all age group. Team of 5 will have to go through checkpoints and complete challenges in order to get their passport which comprises of photo and question related to travel/ tourism and photography in Malaysia. Cash prizes and hampers will be awarded to each winning teams. The game will be conducted outdoor and participants are required to be physically fit.

Battle of the Bands
Music bands from selected schools of Subang Jaya (Under 18 Years old) will be performing each day at carnival for one and half hour slot. Two songs (English and Malay) will be performed by each Band. The Battle Trophy is up for the best three bands from both days.
This activity is hope to expose families to the photography carnival and for participants of Kids’ photography contest the carnival like atmosphere of the event.

Garage sale
The objective is to create excitement for purchasing product related to photography at a bargain price. The carnival deejay will announce a half an hour slot each day for garage sale to start. I.e from the FOTOKEM and other sponsor

Auction
An auction of any photography related product will be done on both days of carnival giving opportunity for individuals/participating booth exhibitor who would like to sell their items (e-bay like) provided items that will auction are in good condition. Also, domestic holiday packages will auction for charity i.e Kenosis home, Beautiful Gates, Pewaris

Product Demo
Product demo of photographic equipment and digital imaging advancement will be presented by the sponsors. Their presentation will educate and promote the carnival spectators about the product.

Cultural show
A two hours multicultural performance by the MTC dance group will be featured on both days from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm. An entrance fee of RM5 will be charged for those who appreciate Malaysian ethnic dance performance.

Dikir Barat Performance
Dikir Barat is a well known Kelantan cultural practice. It a group of people singing and dancing with customized movements. The professionals are from the MTC and will be performing on both days from 3.00pm to 5.00 pm

Media Activities
The News Straits Times, travel and photography related publishers as well local radio troopers (Fly.fm,Hot.fm) will have many media activities lined up throughout the carnival i.e quizzes, fun filled activities.

Others
Shuttle services for tourist and hotel guests will be provided to hotels around the event area. A travel agent booth will be on carnival site to coordinate and assist passengers pick up and drop off. The shuttle services are free and available every half an hour. Shuttle schedule posters will be placed at designated hotels.
